Has there been any more recent pro/con arguments for USA ratifying UNCLOS? It needs to be vetted by people with defense credibility like Cmdr. Salamander.
Hi Larry - We're not certain about the current state of play, but our understanding is that the previous admin did not recommend ratifying in part due to some anti-freedom clauses around "equitable sharing of benefits," which included provisions such as sovereign claims of outer continental shelf sub-sea real estate, extraction rights, and proceeds for landlocked countries... among other questionable matters.
